Mojacar
The town of Mojacar, situated on the southern coast of Eastern Almeria,
it is one of the most beautiful of the Andalucian pueblos (Spanish
towns) and its ancient Moorish origins remain all too apparent
in its winding, sun-drenched, alleys and streets.
Mojacar, Costa d'Almeria, locally known as the "Corner of
Enchantment", nestles on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean
to the South and the Valley of the Pyramids to the North East.
Scientists have recently certified what Mojacar's regular visitors have always
known, that it has the best climate in the Mediterranean basin.
Mojacar boasts an incredible 320 days or 3000 hours of sun per
year, Winter seems forgotten and is practically nonexistent, it
passes as if it were Spring with the sea experiencing temperatures
higher than on land.
Mojacar's tourist landscape
Mojacar's tourist industry is on the turn from being a predominantly rural
and domestic tourist destination, to an exclusively high-class
and international resort.
However, it will not be spoilt, The Provincial (county) government has
specified that all new hotels must comply with strict new planning
regulations. These stipulate they must be built under three storeys'
high and be at least Four Star.
