La Marina
La Marina on the Costa Blanca has a population of about 3,000 and
is twenty minutes from Alicante Airport situated to the south
of Santa Pola. To the south of La Marina are Guardamar and Torrevieja.
This is unquestionably an attractive coastline for tourists with
the bathing season starting in spring and lasting until the autumn.
But one must not forget the uniqueness of the La Marina area,
where great expanses of beach combine with spectacular rolling
dunes where conditions are perfect for the appearance of many
types of flora and fauna.
La Marina village has a range of shops, bars, banks etc. and has
a regular bus service going north and south along the coast. The
sandy beach at La Marina stretches some 17 kilometres from Santa
Pola to Torrevieja. Close by is the large urbanization of La Marina
situated about a mile inland minutes with its many amenities,
a shopping area with restaurants, bars, banks, pharmacy, taxi
rank, bus stops and supermarkets, there is a sports centre and
two large public swimming pools both with childrens sections.
Sea fishing is very popular from the beach at La Marina with freshwater
fishing in the river Segura and canals nearby where large Carp
are regularly caught. Golf is available at the La Marquesa Golf
Club situated about 10 kms away. Las Ramblas and Villa Martin
golf courses are within a 20 minute drive and the golf courses
at La Manga are only an hours drive away.
